    Today’s Good News: Group Helps Seniors Adopt Pets

    The group Pets for the Elderly covers adoption fees for seniors.  And they’re expanding because of the pandemic.  Since 1992, they’ve helped adopt almost 100,000 pets in 34 states.  And now they’re aiming to be in all 50 states by the end of the year.

    A group called the Fixit Clinic helps people repair their old appliances and electronics instead of throwing them out.  And they had to stop holding events when the pandemic hit.  So they decided to roll with it . . . started doing classes on Zoom instead . . . and they’re a huge hit.  So now they’re reaching even more people.

    WHAT: Re-entry: Evacuation order removal and repopulation for portions of Platina Rd.

    ORDER: Opening of areas in Shasta County

    Evacuation orders are lifted for the areas below:

    Repopulation for residences and roadways on the south side of Platina Rd, east from the intersection of Platina Rd and Highway 36 to the Intersection of Platina Rd and Bland Rd.

    Road Closures and evacuation orders will remain in effect for the residences and roadways along the north side of Platina Rd to include Duncan Creek Rd, Bully Choop Rd and Old Bully Choop Rd. All other roadways and residences on the north side of Platina Rd west of Bland Rd and east of Highway 36 will be open.

    Platina Rd will remain under evacuation order and closed east of Bland Rd. Access to Platina Rd will be via Highway 36.

    Evacuation orders lifted at 11AM were:

    The repopulation for the town of Platina to include adjoining roadways along the Highway 36 corridor west from the Shasta County and Tehama County line to the Shasta County and Trinity County line. Access to the town of Platina can be made via Highway 36 from Red Bluff or Highway 3 from Hayfork.

    A road closure will remain in effect for westbound traffic on Highway 36 at the intersection of Highway 36 and Highway 3 in Trinity County.

    An evacuation order and roadway closure will remain in effect at Platina Rd east of Highway 36.

    Evacuation orders lifted at 10AM were:

    The repopulation will include all roadways and residences along the corridor of Placer Rd west from Texas Springs Rd to the intersection of Cloverdale Rd. This will included Cloverdale Rd south of Placer Rd to Clear Creek Rd.

An evacuation order and roadway closure will remain in effect for west bound traffic on Platina Rd. An evacuation order and roadway closure will remain in effect for north bound traffic on Placer Rd

    CURRENT SITUATION

    Firefighters had another successful day that increased containment. The fire had minimal growth in size today and the fire continues to burn in grass, oak woodland, chaparral and mixed timber. Hot, dry conditions are forecasted again for tonight with northwest, downslope winds. Damage assessment teams updated today with verification of damaged or destroyed buildings. Today repopulations where done in some areas of the fire.
