Another one bites the dust.
Monday’s game between the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies has been postponed following the Miami Marlins’ COVID-19 outbreak, according to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal.
The fate for the remainder of the series remains undetermined and questions now linger on the feasibility that MLB can complete the 2020 regular season.
Earlier on Monday, the Marlins canceled their home opener against the Baltimore Orioles because their total number of positive COVID-19 cases rose from four to 14 – including 12 players and two coaches following their three-game series in Philadelphia.
The Yankees would have been arriving to Citizens Bank Park on Monday and using the same clubhouse and facilities that the Marlins had used over the weekend.
The Yankees and Phillies had begun taking precautions in order to try and make Monday’s game happen, including quarantining the visiting clubhouse staff while the Yankees would bring their own clubhouse staff.
Phillies players had not been reporting symptoms but were awaiting test results on Monday.
