Grateful Don’s Candied Yams

One of my favorite recipes is for some good ole candied yams. My nana made these every year and it was passed down to my mom and finally to me.

Probably not that original but they sure are good!


Candied Yams


  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 2 cubes of butter
  • 1 cup of walnuts
  •  marshmallows


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F
  2. Place yams in a medium baking dish. Distribute the butter in pieces evenly over the yams. Sprinkle with brown sugar. Layer with marshmallows and walnuts.
  3. Bake in preheated oven 25 minutes, or until the yams are tender and marshmallows have melted.
