Born on the riverbanks of the Nile, a young woman caught a basket floating on the river. In that basket, lie a baby, swaddled in bacon and with a beard that could tame a lion. From somewhere beyond, the name ‘Ryan’ called out to her. She took him back to her humble village where they immediately elected him War Chief. From an early age, he commanded respect and presence on the battlefield. When it was time for the boy to become a man, he gathered his wits about him and along with his only possession–a loin cloth–made his way to the greatest country on the face of the earth: America. Here he would learn the valuable skills that would catapult him to a giant of industry. Foes would tremble at the sound of his name, silence would shatter at the sound of his voice and all would know his legacy. The boy has now become a man and after mountains of success, the boy has returned to his roots: to garnish the greatest program on the face of the earth. Question:  It was this day in Rock History in 2009, the music world said goodbye to this absolute legend, credited with developing one of the first solid-body electric guitars. Who was it?

Answer: It was Les Paul. Paul died at the age of 94. The original Les Paul guitar went on sale in 1952 and contributed to the birth of rock.

Answer: It was Kiss! The band has released over 30 albums and sold over 80 million records world-wide.

Question: It was this day in Rock History in 1976, this guy played the first of ten sold-out nights at Madison Sq. Garden. Who was it?

Answer: It was Elton John!  The $1.25 million generated from the shows broke the record set by The Rolling Stones in 1975.

Answer: It was Frank Zappa. Dixon cited Zappa’s musical accomplishments as well as his defense of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution.
